Kenmare Lace


Kenmare Lace is a handmade needlepoint lace originally made in the 19th century, and introduced to Kenmare by the sisters of the Poor Clare convent.

Having survived through generations of lace makers, it had been in decline until it was revived in the 1980s. 

Limestone Lodge hosts Sinéad and Siobhán are among a small number of skilled lace makers who are keeping this traditional craft alive. 

There are many samples of Kenmare Lace displayed in Limestone Lodge, some of which are shown below.
